Pittsburg is located just a short BART ride from San Francisco, in eastern Contra Costa County, between the Delta waters and the foot of Mount Diablo.

The City is strategically located near a number of prestigious higher education institutions, such as UC Berkeley and UC Davis, and is the home of Los Medanos College, the sixth ranked community college in the nation.

Pittsburg offers deep water channel access, two BART Stations, and an active community expected to grow by nearly 20,000 over the next two decades.

Pittsburg is home to two Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations, making trips to San Francisco, Oakland, and other areas a breeze. In fact, BART’s “Fleet of the Future” cars are manufactured right here in Pittsburg.

With its beautiful 120-acre campus, numerous technology and study labs and graduation/certification rate, Los Medanos College has been honored as the sixth-best community college in the country.

Pittsburg has an extensive history of industry, including energy production and transmission and transportation.

With a higher percentage of industrial zoned space than any other City in Contra Costa County, Pittsburg is positioned to be a leader in advanced manufacturing, research and development, and autonomous technologies.

The City of Pittsburg has taken steps to identify areas of the City that are equipped to serve businesses, and is working to establish programs, policies, and strategies that will support and streamline privately funded redevelopment and allow for flexibility in uses.

From youth sports to farmer’s markets to City-sponsored events, Pittsburg offers numerous recreational opportunities to people of all ages and abilities.

Pittsburg is home to more than 300 acres of City-owned park land, as well as several miles of the regional Delta De Anza Trail connecting Pittsburg to nearby areas such as Walnut Creek and Concord, and adjacent to over 6,000 acres of regional park space, including the Black Diamond Mines Preserve and the future Concord Hills Regional Park and Trail system.

The City’s location along the river delta also provides numerous opportunities for water sports, such as kayaking, fishing, and some of the best kiteboarding weather in the world!
